[hazlitt'sbusinesswasfindingapublisherforhisabridgmentofsearch(seepage340).johnsonwaspriestley'spublisher.alettertogodwinfromcoleridgeinjune,1803(seekeganpaul'slifeofgodwin,ii.,96),hadestedsuchanabridgment,coleridgeaddingthatafriendofhiswouldmakeit,andthathewouldwriteaprefaceandseetheproofsthroughthepress.hencegodwin'sshareinthematter.coleridge'spartofthetransactionwasnotcarriedout.

hazlitt'slifeofjosephfawcett(?1758-1804),thepoetanddissentingpreacherofwalthamstowandoldjewry,whomhehadknownintimately,wasnotwritten.thefawcettofwhommanning,thechineseenquirer,wasthinkingwasjohnfawcett,famousasdr.panglossandcaleb"em.
