dearmissw.—therecanbenonetowhomthelastvolumeofw.w.hascomemorewelcomethantome.ihavetracedtheduddoninthoughtandwithrepetitionalongthebanks(alas!)ofthelea—(unpoeticalname);itisalwaysflowingandmurmuringanddashinginmyears.thestoryofdionisdivine—thegeniusofplatofallingonhimlikemoonlight—thefinestthingeverexpressed.thenthereiselidureandkirkstonepass—thelastnotnewtome—andletmeaddoneofthesweetestofthemalltome,thelongestday.lovingalltheseasmuchasicanlovepoetrynewtome,whatcouldiwishordesiremoreorextravagantlyinanewvolume?thatididnotwritetow.w.wassimplythathewastocomesosoon,andthatflattensletters….
