“中午都过了，”头脑简单的母亲说，“你怎么还不起床？”

“典型的推卸责任。”小弗洛伊德说道。
现在，小弗洛伊德也许还认识到，任何事情都不像它看上去那么简单。叫他吃饭也会引发一段他对你的儿童时代的分析：
“晚饭准备好了。”头脑简单的母亲说道。
“别把您恋母情结的怒火发泄在我的身上，好吗？”小弗洛伊德问道，“就是因为您从来无法从您母亲那里把您父亲的注意力吸引过来，而这并不应该成为您迁怒于我的原因。”
“你在说什么呢？”头脑简单的母亲问道，“我说吃饭的时间到了。这和恋母情结有什么关系？”
“在您的潜意识里，您把食物与前期的恋母情结所带来的满足感联系起来，这引起了一连串的相互关联的思想，直接导致了您的发怒，您不会承认这些的，所以您将敌意转移给我。”
“闭嘴，吃你的饭，一会儿就凉了。”头脑简单的母亲说道。
“啊哈！”小弗洛伊德得意扬扬地说道，“看到了吗？典型的让步。”
当小弗洛伊德指出头脑简单的父母抚养孩子的方式存在错误时，才辩无双：
“你们教育得不对，”说起自己的小弟弟，小弗洛伊德说道，“你们太放纵他了，可能是因为你们希望从自己那压抑的童年时代的束缚中解脱出来。”
“他好像怒气太盛，”小弗洛伊德继续说道，“他的本我被控制，而且他的超我已经崩溃了。他好像是正在享受着某种典型的原始固恋，。事实上，我认为他想要杀了我。”
“他不是真的想要杀了你，亲爱的。”头脑简单的母亲说道，“是我雇他为我做这件事的。”
